Taking payments with Stripe
WhenTap can collect payment at the moment of booking. It uses Stripe Connect, which means the money goes straight into your own Stripe account. WhenTap sets its platform fee to zero, so it takes 0% of every booking. The only thing WhenTap ever charges you is your flat monthly plan.
Connecting Stripe is an owner-only action, done once per account.
How to connect
- Open Services in the panel. At the top you will see a card inviting you to connect Stripe.
- Click Connect Stripe. A new tab opens where you link (or create) your Stripe account.
- When it finishes you will see: "Your Stripe account is linked. Paid bookings now pay out straight to your account."
Until Stripe is connected, services stay free even if they have a price, so you can set prices up in advance and switch payment on when you are ready.
Charging for a service
Open a service and set a price, then turn on payment required. A service takes payment only when all three are true: it is marked payment-required, it has a price above zero, and your Stripe account is connected. Otherwise the booking simply confirms for free.
What the customer sees
When a visitor books a paid service, the widget sends them to Stripe's hosted Checkout to pay. The booking is held as pending while it waits, so the slot cannot be taken by someone else. As soon as the payment succeeds, Stripe notifies WhenTap, the booking flips to confirmed, and everything else fires: the confirmation email, the calendar event, and the write-back to your CMS. See How booking works.
Refunds
If a paid booking is cancelled, whether by you in the panel or by the customer through their self-service link, WhenTap issues the refund on your connected Stripe account automatically. The customer's manage page confirms it: "If you paid, a refund has been issued." See Reschedule & cancel.
Where the money goes
Every charge is created on your connected account with WhenTap's application fee set to zero. Payouts follow your own Stripe payout schedule, to your own bank account. WhenTap never holds your customers' money and never stores their card details, Stripe does.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect Stripe from the same Services panel. Existing bookings are unaffected; new paid services will simply confirm for free again until you reconnect.
