Intake questions

Intake questions let you collect what you need up front, so you walk into every appointment already knowing the context. They are set per service and asked during booking, right after the customer's name and email.

Adding questions

Open a service and add intake questions. For each question you set:

  • The question text.
  • Whether it is required. A required question must be answered before the booking can go through.
  • Optional choices. Add a comma-separated list of options and the question becomes a dropdown; leave it blank and it is a free-text field.

A service can have up to 25 questions. Keep it short, every extra field is a chance for someone to drop off.

What the customer sees

The questions appear on the widget's Details step. Required questions are enforced in the widget before it will submit, and a free-text answer can be up to 2,000 characters. Dropdown questions only allow the choices you defined.

Where the answers go

Answers are stored with the booking and surfaced everywhere you need them:

  • In the new-booking email that goes to you (and the staff member), each question and its answer are listed.
  • In the panel, open a booking to see its answers in the detail drawer.

Answers are tied to the booking, so if you cancel or delete it, they go with it. They are included in your account export as well. See Reschedule & cancel and Team & permissions.

Good questions to ask

Ask for what changes how you prepare or who you route the booking to, for example the reason for the visit, a case or account reference, or a preferred contact method. Avoid asking for anything sensitive you do not need, and remember that if you take payment, you never need to ask for card details, Stripe handles that.
